Summary

The full dataset: all 254 counties with civilian employed counts, the five ACS occupation groups (male and female added together), each group's share of that county, and the largest group in the county. Sorted by management share and re-sortable on any column. Use the filter box to jump to a county by name. A county percentage is that county's mix, so the share columns cannot be averaged into a state figure; that would weight Loving the same as Harris.

About this data

  • Occupation is of the civilian employed population 16 years and over, ACS table C24010 (Sex by Occupation). Male and female counts are added to produce each occupation total. The five major occupation groups add to the county total.
  • This is occupation (what people do), not industry (what their employer does) and not class of worker.
  • A county share describes that county. The statewide share adds workers together from a separate Texas state request and is not the average of the 254 county shares.
  • County percentages shown in the findings are rounded to one decimal place before ranking midpoints or counting counties at a threshold.
  • The Census published an occupation estimate for every Texas county. None were suppressed.
